Appeals and Re-marks
Requests for re-marking will only be considered for the following components of the exam, and with associated costs:
- Summary Writing - $49.50
- Extended Writing - $49.50
- Oral Assessment - $49.50
To apply for a re-mark, you must submit your request in writing, within ten (10) business days of receiving your results. Requests must be emailed to ACER at firstname.lastname@example.org, where you will then be provided with instructions on the appeals process.
Re-marks for other exam components will not be considered. ACER and Victoria Police will not enter into appeals against results for the following exam sections:
- Literacy Skills
- Abstract Reasoning
- Verbal Reasoning
- Computer Skills Assessment
Please note: When deciding whether to appeal your result, or re-sit, please consider the following:
- The re-mark process takes approximately six (6) weeks and only a small proportion of candidates see an increase in scores.
- You must wait until the result of your re-mark is provided before booking any re-sits.
- A re-sit can be completed in approximately four (4) weeks.
Applying for a re-mark is most appropriate after your second and final attempt. We suggest that if you are 1-2 marks below the pass mark, an appeal for a re-mark may be requested.
Should you wish to query a particular question on the day of the exam, you should alert the supervisor to your concern and submit an incident report before you leave the exam centre. Your query will be reviewed by the ACER Victoria Police Office and you will be notified of the outcome.
Similarly, any complaints relating to the exam centre venue or physical discomfort suffered should be reported to the supervisor on the day, or in writing to the ACER Victoria Police Office within five (5) days of the exam session.
It is not possible to receive special consideration for impaired performance on the day of the exam caused by illness or other unexpected personal situations.
